Anton Scheffler (or Sheffler) was born Jan. 17, 1800 in Bavaria, Germany the son of Mary Sheffler.

He married Mary Bachmann about 1834 in New York and they had at least four children.

They came to Lee County in the year 1841 and settled at St. Paul, Marion twp., Lee Co., Iowa and moved three years later to West Point twp., Lee Co., Iowa, where they lived till they died.
