DEATH CLAIMS HONORED WOMAN
Mrs. Ed. Shrewsbury Dies Suddenly At Her Home
Shidler and community was shocked Tuesday morning when the word was passed that Mrs. Ed Shrewsbury had died suddenly at her home on the Prairie lease southwest of town that morning shortly after preparing breakfast for her son, Howard, and her self. Death was wholly unexpected as Mrs. Shrewsbury appeared to be in, the best of health, and only Monday afternoon she was in Shidler buying supplies for her home and attending to other matters. Two years ago, on the day of her death, her husband passed away, and the day and night before her death it is said that she continually referred to his passing, and her brooding over his death may have had an influence on her sudden passing away.
Mrs. Shrewsbury is survived by three sons, Raymond, Lawrence and Howard, the latter living with his mother; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Brace, of Amarillo, Texas, and Mrs. Agnes Wilkinson, of this community. Mrs. Shrewsbury was a most loving wife and mother, a friend and neighbor endeared to all who knew her. She was also an active lodge and church worker, at the time of her death being a member of the First Christian church of Shidler, of the 0. E. S., at Sapulpa, of the Rebekah, Royal Neighbor and Woodmen Circle lodges of this city. Her passing will be most keenly felt by the community. At the time of her death she was In her fifty-seventh year. On September 15, 1895, she was united In marriage to Ed Shrewsbury, and to this union the children named above were born. The family moved to Shidler from Sapulpa about five years ago and have been residents of this community ever since.
Funeral services will be conducted this (Thursday) afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Christian church, Rev. Earl R. Saladen delivering the funeral sermon. Friends and acquaintances are invited. Interment will be made at Sapulpa, Friday, following the final funeral rites in that city. The bereaved and sorrowing sons and daughters have the sympathy of the community in the loss of their beloved mother, and the community, itself, has lost a most honored and noble woman and friend. May her sleep be sweet, and her awakening in the arms of her Lord.
