Charles William Cunningham, 82, of Hillsboro, went to the Lord Monday morning, June 16, 2008, after a battle with cancer. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro, with the Rev. Todd Ewing officiating.

He was born in Hillsboro, Texas, to the late Marvin and Mary Cunningham and attended Hillsboro schools before he was drafted into the U.S. Army for World War II. He served with the Battery B 672 Field Artillery Battalion in Germany. He enjoyed wood working, dancing and celebrating with food around family and friends. He worked for the Texas Department of Transportation in Hill County as Assistant Foreman for the Maintenance Dept. and retired in March 1987.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Rae Conditt Cunningham; sisters, Doris Cunningham Stokes and Patricia "Pat" Land; and brother, Billy Joe Cunningham.

He is survived by son, C.R. "Chuck" Cunningham; daughters, Judy Elaine Collins and Donna Sue Hutton and husband, David; grandchildren, Carrie Graeve and husband, Steve, Chris Collins and wife, Tammy, Jason Hudson and wife, Megan, Valerie Wylie and husband, Bud, and Jeremy Hudson and wife, Emily; six great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Bowman and husband, Garry; several cousins, nieces, nephews; and special life long friends.
