Mrs. Werner was born May 2, 1909, at Kankakee, the daughter of Charles A. and Cora Chester Hertz. She married Albert H. Werner December 23, 1933, at Kankakee. He preceded her in death in November 1973.
She was a seamstress at the Kroehler Furniture Factory in Kankakee for several years and also worked as a seamstress after moving to Paxton. She and her husband moved to Paxton in 1947. She had attended Kankakee Schools. She was a member of the Paxton Church of Christ where she had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
She was a 50-plus-year member and past president of the Paxton Women's Club, a former member of the Kankakee Civic Chorus, a member of the Sauk Trail Button Club, also the Illinois and National Button Clubs and was active in the PTA when her children were in school. She was a collector of numerous articles, including buttons, and enjoyed attending auctions.
She is survived by one son, Charles (Mary) Werner of Paxton; one daughter, Corinne (Lewis, Jr.) Brown of rural Paxton; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 20 nieces and nephews; and one sister, Olive Ford of Momence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Albert, Jr.; three sisters, Beatrice who died in infancy, Thelma Turner, Bessie Hayslip; and two brothers, Charles B. and Chester Hertz.
