Roberta A. Yarnell, 84, lifelong Neosho County resident, died at 2:30 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Guest Home Estates in Erie. Although she had been in declining health, her death was unexpected.
She was born August 25, 1923, near Thayer, to Aleck McClan Basler and Anna E. (Badger) Basler. During her early years the family continued living in the rural Thayer area and later moved to the rural Erie area.
On August 29, 1941, she and Leon P. Yarnell were married in Erie. Throughout their married life they farmed in Neosho County and in later years moved into Erie. Mr. Yarnell preceded her in death on August 30, 2000.
Mrs. Yarnell was a member of the Church of God in Chanute.
SURVIVORS - One son - Leland Yarnell and his wife Sharon Erie Three daughters - Irene Wadeking and her husband Oren Hartford, IL Patricia Bammann and her husband Bob Erie Barbara Frazier Haysville Nine grandchildren - Kenneth Yarnell, David Yarnell, Lisa Sulenes and Mike Yarnell - all of Erie Sharon Kaye Thomas and Larry Wadeking - both of Hartford, IL Jeremiah Eck Haysville Joshua Eck Boise, ID Loucinda Carroll Branson, MO 13 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren One brother - Loren Basler Bartlesville, OK One sister - Neva Havely Farmington, NM
Preceding her in death was her husband; three grandsons - Porter Allen, John Daniel Eck and Bill Bammann; six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at the Temple Baptist Church in Erie, with Rev. Frank Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the East Hill Cemetery at Erie. The family will receive friends at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie from 7 to 8 p.m., Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to the Temple Baptist Church in Erie.
