Written by the committe at Union ME Church Union, Ohio 1876
IN MEMORIA
The following resolutions were adopted, July 10, 1876, by the members of the ME Church and Sunday School, at Union, Montgomery County, Ohio, on the sad and unexpected death, of their worthy Sabbath School Superintendent, JH Bucher.
Whereas, It has been pleasing to our heavenly Father to remove from earth our beloved brother, who for many years successfully occupied the position of principal in our Public Schools, and was sought by old and young for his wise counsel and advice, therefore,
Resolved, That in the death of brother Bucher, this community, with the Church, of which he was an efficient and active member, have met with a severe loss; that we mourn with more than ordinary attainments won the love and esteem of all.
Resolved, That we tender our heartfelt sympathy to the family of the deceased, who in the untimely death of a dearly beloved husband and father, have sustained a mysterious and irreparable bereavement.
Resolved, That as we mingle our tears with theirs in this our mutual grief, we mourn not as those who have no hope, but are comforted with the assurance that he has left the perplexities of earth for the rest and security of heaven.
Resolved, That in token of our sorrow, we drape our Church in mourning for thirty days, and a copy of these resolutions be sent to the sorrowing relatives.
