Hope S. Briel, 78, of 30 S. 10th St., passed away Tuesday, June 26, at Saint Catherine Medical Center, Ashland.

Born in Fountain Springs on Aug. 10, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Stella (Mader) Seitzinger.

She was a graduate of Butler Township High School.

She was married to the late John Briel, who preceded her in death in 2002.

She was a member of Christ Congregational United Church of Christ, Fountain Springs, where for many years she was the church organist, choir director, and Sunday school teacher.

She was a member and past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ashland Chapter. She was a member of Fountain Springs Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, where she enjoyed playing bingo.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Clay and Cindy Briel of Girardville and Keith Briel of Ashland; a granddaughter, Shaina Briel, and a sister, Jean Keller of Lewisburg. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Netty Wyett, Faye Alvard, Grace Jacoby, Adele Yarworth, and Lois Allsop.

Hope S. Briel, 78, of 30 S. 10th St., Ashland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, 901 Center St., Ashland.

Interment will be at Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
