Today the world changed for a lot of us. We lost not only a companion and father, but a dear friend. He made a huge difference to all the lives of those he touched and we are all better just by getting to share the planet with him. Always there to cheer, encourage, care, and love all those he came in contact with. He was truly one of a kind. After a more than Valiant fight with Congestive Heart Failure and Diabetes he passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 with his wife and a daughter by his side. His heart gave out long before his will to live ever did.

Gloyd was born August 19, 1931 in Aurora, Utah to Austin Jabez Spencer and Mary Emma Pierce. There he married Lucille Colby and together they had six children: John, Annette, Elaine, Cindy, Val and Allen. Later he married Lexie May Updyke Bumgarner and became a father to four children then one more came along: Steven, Keven, Robbie, Tamara Bumgarner and Tawnya Spencer.

He was survived by his wife, Lexie, sons, John (Michelle) Spencer, Steven (Lynn Davis) Bumgarner, Keven (Teresa) Bumgarner; daughters, Annette (T J) Jensen, Tawnya (Lee) Spencer-Aase. Siblings: Betty Nielson, Donnell (Carolynn) Spencer, JoAnn (Mac) McCoy, Larry (Marie) Spencer, many grand children, great-grandchildren and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lucille, daughters, Elaine and Cindy Spencer, Tamara Bumgarner Hook, sons, Val and Allen Spencer, and Robbie Bumgarner.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Hunter Central Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located 3930 South 6000 West in West Valley City, Utah. A Viewing was held on Friday, June 13, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Stake Center and on Saturday one hour prior to the Funeral Services at the Stake Center.
Graveside Services followed at 6:30 PM at the Aurora City Cemetery in Aurora, Utah, where Gloyd was laid to rest with Full Military Honors accorded by the Salina American Legion, Post #36.
REST IN ETERNAL PEACE GLOYD.
