Pioneer born April 1742 in Argyll, Argylshire, Scotland (other sources say c1755 in York County PA), John settled in Polk Run in Westmoreland County, PA, and later in Butler County, PA. He was the husband of Ann Christy Campbell.
In their later years, John and his wife Ann lived with their son Robert on his Concord Township farm. When he died, John was buried in a field on Robert's farm, and Ann went to live with her son Thomas in Parker Township. In 1908 John's remains were taken from the farm field to Concord cemetery.
