MARY STEFFENHAGEN MYKEL - APRIL 26, 2000 - Mary Mykel, 46, of Wagners Hollow Road, Fort Plain, died suddenly Wednesday at home. She was born June 28, 1953, in Amsterdam, a daughter of Robert K. and Margaret Putman Steffenhagen, and graduated from Fort Plain High School in 1971. She was a lifelong area resident. She was a former employee of the Johnstown Knitting Mill Co. for many years and for the past three years was a homemaker. She was the secretary for the Boiling Pot Aerie 3846 Fraternal Order of Eagles and past madam of the club. She was also past recorder for the Women of the Moose Lodge 987. Survivors include her mother, Margaret E. Steffenhagen of Fort Plain; her companion, David VanAlstine of the town of Palatine; a son, Daniel Liebing of Nelliston; a daughter, Antasia VanAlstine of the town of Palatine; a sister, Cynthia E. Kesselring of Rochester; a brother, Robert E. Steffenhagen of Choctaw, Okla.; and two grandchildren. The funeral is 7 p.m. Saturday at Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, at a later date. Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
