Her parents were Bruce and Rose (Lentz) Kelly. She was born on a farm near Spirit Lake, Iowa. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1935. On November 14, 1936 she married Clyde S King. They made their home in Lake Park, where they ran a car and tractor dealership as well as a blacksmith shop. He died September 1, 1952. After Clyde died she sold their business and took care of her aging parents. After they passed away, Sarah worked as a secretary at Harris Lake Park Community for twenty years and after her retirement, she worked as a secretary for Lake Park United Methodist Church. Clyde and Sarah had three children: Jean, Carl and Roger. Sarah had recently made her home with her children, Jean Hawes and Roger King.
Services were at the United Methodist Church in Lake Park on June 2, 2008. Officiant was Rev. Chris Ebbers. Music by Jeanine Gunderson, Organist, and Jennifer Krummen and Jane Heikens, Vocalists. Pallbearers: Danny, David, Dale and Rodney King, and Ronald and Steven Hawes. Interment in Silver Lake Cemetery, Lake Park, Iowa.
