Mable Clara Sharp Rice, 92, of Crossett died Tuesday May 27, 2008, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born in Hamburg on October 31, 1915, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Minnie Mitchell Sharp, Mrs. Rice was a homemaker and a member of Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church. She enjoyed gospel music and word find puzzles.


Survivors include one son, Ronny Wayne Rice and wife Mavis of Ashdown; one daughter, Nancy Meziere and husband James of Hamburg, a son-in-law, Bobby Burt of Hamburg; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walcie Lee Rice; a son, Donald Warren Rice; a daughter, Sylvia Burt; and a grandson, Mitchell Burt.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 29, in the Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church with Bros. Buddy Boykin, Gayle Riles and Lloyd Gibbs officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Meziere, Jeff Blankenship, Seth Blankenship, Jason McGhee, Bob Burt, Randall Burchfield and Mett Cobb. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Widow Women's Club-- Ada Rosen, Mary Bays, Mattie Pearl Kilcrease, June Hollis, Rudolph Knight, Florence Craig, Sue Burgess, Dorothy McCone, Margie Livingston, Lavon Miller, Elizabeth Woods, Billie Sue Watson, Clara Burch and Roxie Pogue.
