The date on the headstone is probably incorrect because of some mis-information that I had given to family members who were ordering the headstone. I had been doing research with another relative and she gave me that information but it had not been proven by me. Levi was probably born about 1820 according to the census records. My Dad had shown me where Levi's rock was in the cemetery, so we knew where to put the headstone.

Levi's first wife was Matilda Varner, according to information I received from older family members. According to the census records, she was born about 1818/1823 and died some time after the 1880 census was taken. I was told that she was sick and went to stay with a sister, place unknown, and died there.

According to census and family records, Levi and Matilda were the parents of
John, Margaret, James K. P. and William Knight Adams. I have never found records for James K. P. after the 1850 census, but it lists him as 8 months old, but William Knight was supposed to have been born in October of 1850 and the census was done in November of 1850, so something isn't quite right about this. I saw a Bible where it listed children of Levi and Matilda as what looked like James Bly and Elizabeth but I've never found anything else about these two children, unless this was James K. P. and not James Bly.

Some relatives dispute the information that I had been given by my father and others, including Yoder relatives, that Levi and Ann Yoder were the parents of Sam Yoder, born in 1878 while Levi was still married to Matilda. Levi was a lot older than Ann but he married her in 1881, so am assuming Matilda died some time between June 1880 when the census was taken and March 1881 when Levi married Harriet Susannah (Ann) Yoder. If anyone has real proof that Levi was not the biological father of Sam, please e-mail me.

Since writing this, I found some notes that I had written years ago and it said that Matilda went to stay with her sister in Copperhill, Tennessee and probably died there. This information was given to me probably by my Dad or my aunt or both.
