Samuel passed away in the evening due to a wagon accident he driving. He apparently fell off and one of the wagon wheels ran over his head. Alma Ruth Sunderland has told that he wanted some ice cream for Samuel was at his son Carl's home. And so she made him some and gave him the bowl. Soon afterward he passed away. She had said that at the time she thought that she killed him because of the ice cream, even though her parents said no it wasn't, she felt guilty for some time afterwards.
