David Thetford Adams was the fifth child of David Edward Adams and Caroline Henrietta Lind. He was born in Linden, Navajo, Arizona 10 July 1884. He was about 13 when the family moved to Central, Arizona. His family first lived in a dugout and a big government tent. One winter night a severe storm arose and David got on top of his smaller brother, Willie, and in the morning he was found almost frozen stiff trying to save his brother's life.
David filled a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Florida during 1910-1911. On 1 October 1911 he married May Elvina Thompson, the daughter of a prominent jeweler in Safford, Arizona, Dusinus Thompson and Annie Gilpin.
Their first child, Grant Thetford, was born 6 July 1912 in Safford. Milton Thor was born was born 19 June 1914 in Miami. Cecil David was stillborn 15 March 1916 in Miami, Arizona. Their first daughter, Corrine Annie, was born 4 April 1917 in Miami. The family moved to Central where their last two children were born: Arline 27 September 1919 and Genevieve 3 June 1921.
David worked in the mines and was a mine inspector. He was timbering in a mine when a rock fell and crushed him. He died 25 October 1923, leaving May with 5 small children. She bought a home in Mesa, Arizona where she met and married Hoyt Josiah Martin and had two daughters. May passed away 20 July 1981.
