She was born Sept. 12, 1911, in El Paso, the daughter of Percy and Faerie Bonar Andrews. She married Donald Mayne, a childhood sweetheart, also from El Paso. She and Don enjoyed 40-plus years together before his death in 1980.
Before moving to Bloomington, Ind., she and her husband lived in Dallas, Texas, for 30 years. She was active in many philanthropic organizations, a leader at High and Park Methodist Church, and active in her sorority. She taught school at St. Michael's Episcopal School in Dallas. She was an outstanding teacher and dearly loved her students. After 30 years she still heard from many of her students.
In 1976 she and her husband moved to Bloomington, Ind., to be with their daughter, son-in-law and grandson. While in Bloomington, Ind., she was a member of P.E.O., Sorosis Club, Society of the Friends of Music, and First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Celicia M. (Henry) Upper of Bloomington, Ind.; her sister, Marian Phelps, and a niece, Peggy Eabb, both of Rockford.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her grandson, Andrew Mayne Upper.
