Neva Handley Stroud, 86, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008.
Graveside service: 1 p.m. Friday in Bluebonnet Cemetery, Colleyville, H.W. "Dub" McClish officiating under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St.
Mrs. Stroud was born April 28, 1922, to Harv and Stella Handley in Tarrant County. She graduated from Arlington Heights High School and was a graduate of Angelo State University where she received her bachelor of science degree. She married James L. Stroud in 1943 in Tarrant County. She taught Sunday school as well as teaching in San Angelo public schools before retiring in 1992. She moved to Abilene in 1999. She was a member of Oakland Drive Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one brother.
Survivors: Daughter, Melissa Sturm of Abilene; son, Michael Stroud and wife, Suzanne, of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Laura Stevens of Aledo; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
