Jerome Allison Balthaser was born March 15, 1864, in Upper Bern Twp., Berks Co., Pa., the son of Jared K. and Harriet Stoudt Balthaser.
Socially he held membership in Camp No. 446, P. O. S. of A. at Centreport, Castle No. 53, K. G. E. of Leesport and Lodge No. 60 Shepherds of Bethlehem, of Centreport. He played bass in the Centreport band and was a member of St. Michael's Church.
He was a dealer in farm implements in Centerport, Berks Co In 1894 he bought the Michael Rentschler farm, formerly the Benneville Loose place. He farmed thirty acres of good land lying outside of the borough. In 1894 he built a fine residence just about ten feet outside of the borough line.
He owned the Centereport Hotel one of the best of its kind in Berks Co. He was appointed health officer of Centre Twp. and was elected school director and held that position for three years.
Jerome Allison S. Balthaser was married to Emma Leisa Rentschler on June 20, 1885 in Belleman's Church by the Rev. Benjamin Zweizig They had four children: Emerson R. Balthaser, Oliver Balthaser, Walter R. Balthaser, Rufus R. Balthaser
After the death of Emma, on February 1, 1914, Jerome married Katie Rebecca Rutter Bagenstose on May 13, 1914 . This union produced a son Thurman Allison Balthaser
