Ruth Allison

Ruth L. Allison, a former Brown County resident, died Monday, February 17, 2003, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was 88.

Ms. Allison was born on May 7, 1914, in Wanamaker. She was the daughter of David C. and Lena K. Kahl Wright. They preceded her in death.

She married James W. Allison on November 12, 1931, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1970.

Ms. Allison worked at Camp Atterbury and Real Silk Hosiery, Indianapolis, making parachutes. She worked at E.C. Atkins Saw Company in Indianapolis during World War II. She ran a grocery in Spearsville in the late 1950s and a grocery at Midway from 1953 to 1955.

She attended Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Bean Blossom. She was also a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Richard Allison and Marvin L. Allison, both of Indianapolis, and John D. Allison, of Brown County; a daughter Erma J. Allison, Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Her sister, Marguerite Wallace, two half brothers and a half sister preceded her in death.

A service will be held at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 20, with the Reverend Ron Maxwell officiating. She will be buried at Nebo Memorial Park, Martinsville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, February 19, at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.
