Dr. C. L Barnes, 81, Succumbs

Dr. Charles T. Barnes. 81, Abilene dentist, died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday in his home, 1042 Grape, following a six month illness which became critical several weeks ago.

Dr. Barnes had been in Abilene since 1940 and practiced until he became ill. He had also practiced dentistry in Cameron, Plainview and Hale Center. He was a member of the University Baptist church.

Born July 18, 1861, in Tennessee, he was married in January 1892 to Maggie Lee Stewart of Sparta, Tenn. He graduated at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee in 1903.

Survivors include: his wife; three sons, Stewart of Hale Center, Lee of Dallas, and Harold of Abilene; two daughters - Fannie May and Elizabeth of Abilene; a brother, Dr. Livingston Barnes of Hubbard; a sister, Mrs. Charity Simmons, Fort Worth; two half brothers, Hugh and Stanley Barnes of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two half sisters, Mrs. Laura Hunerwodle, of Chattanonga, and Mrs. Hallie Murphv of Fort Worth; and 16 grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the University Baptist church with the Rev. C. L. Painter, former pastor at Hale Center, officiating. Kiker-Warren funeral home will be in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be R. L. Stokes, J. I. Moore, A. M. Beaty, Luther Webb, A. M. Giles, and A. R. Couch. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fisherman's class of the church and J. F. Jones and W. B. Bounds.
