Mother: Elizabeth (De Roo) Hermenet
According to my Aunt Ila: Adrian's (My Grandfather) parents died when he was very young. His sisters Johanna and Marie brought him up. They ran a grocery store but times were very difficult so he decided to come to America and join other relatives. His sisters pleaded with him not to leave. He told his children years later, that he could still hear his sisters calling after him as he walked away, to "come back". He came over on a crude ship. It was a difficult sailing and he became very sick. He never wanted to cross the ocean again.
Adrian Hermenet Arrived at Ellis Island, New York City, New York on November 16, 1904 on the ship "S. S. Ryndam"
