Independence Day was also a family reunion day for Mr. and Mrs. George I Barwick Sr, of Ann's Terrace. Barwick's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aden A Barwick of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., had arrived by plane a few days earlier. Friday Mr. and Mrs. George I Barwick, Jr and son and daughter of Newport, RI arrived to spend the day. This was the first time the oldest Barwick who is 70, had seen his grandson since 1932 and he had never seen the great-grandchildren, Stephen,4, and Diane Lynne,2, and their mother, Amy.
The great-grandparents had visited in Hampton in 1947 when they met their grandson William, 6, but this time they met another grandson, 4 year old Robert. Both George Barwick, SR and his son were recalled to active duty in the US Navy in 1950. The father was discharged first and returned to his position as manager of the Alled NH Gas Company in Exeter. His son was discharged this April after spending his last six months in the Navy aboard the USS Beatty in Japan and Korea. Mr. and Mrs. Aden Barwick have three other children, all living in Florida, and two more grandchilden.
