Cordelle, May 20, 1845 - Elder R.H. Barwick, 78, widely known Primitive Baptist minister, founder of and president of the Bethany Home for aged women at Vidalia, died early Saturday in a local hospital after a long illness. Twice married, his first wife, the former Miss Mollie Davis, died in 1935. He later married Mrs. Edna Dumas, who survives.
Of the first union, the following children survive: Mrs. L.M. Folsom, Cocoa Fl.; Mrs. A.L. McArthur Jr., Charlotte, NC; Mrs. W.M. Gorman, Atlanta; Felix Barwick, Cordele; Frank Barwick, Punta Gorda, Fl.
Funeral services will be held from the home here Monday afternnon at 2 o'clock with interment in Sunnyside Cemetery, Cordele.
Elder Barwick wrote a book with focus on early life in Georgia.
