NORWICH - Amanda M. "Mandy" LaMandia, 76, of State Route 12, Norwich, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at the Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
Born on June 1, 1927 in Raleigh, N.C., she was the daughter of William M. and Molly E. Cornett Pierce, and attended local schools.
She completed courses from the Chicago School of Nursing, and had worked at the Chase Memorial Hospital, New Berlin, the Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, and Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals. She also cared for the mentally handicapped in her home.
She was a member of the Family Care organization.
Mandy was married to Joseph P. LaMandia on Dec. 15, 1967 in Edmeston. He predeceased her in 1981.
Surviving are her children; a sister; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mandy is also survived by Thomas O'Malley, who was in her care for many years.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Eric Beadle; a great-grandson, David James Brooks; four brothers, Jonathon, Roy, James and Edgar Pierce; and a sister, Maggie Williams.
Funeral services were held this morning at 11 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 South Main St., Sherburne, followed by burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich.
Friends were invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
