From The Belton Weekly Journal of Thursday, Feb. 10, 1881:
"On last Thursday night Mrs. C. A. Ray breathed her last. She was 66 years old and a devoted christian. And on Friday morning Mrs. M. J. Smith, a daughter of Mrs. C. A. Ray, passed away. She also was a christian lady, and leaves four orphan girls to mourn her loss. Mother and daughter were buried in one grave."
Ceillia Ann Ferguson first married John D. Gordon circa 1830. There was reportedly one child from that marriage, John D. Gordon, Jr. After the untimely death of her husband, she married Dempsey Jones Ray about 1835. D J Ray died about 1875. There are no known memorials for either husband.
