John Nicosia, age 90, of Wayne, NJ, entered into eternal rest at home on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. He was born in Vittoria, Provincia di Ragusa, Sicily, Italy and came to the United States in 1959 residing in Paterson before moving to Wayne since 1997. John was a Foreman/Shop Steward for Trio Dyeing & Finishing Company in Paterson for many years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Roma Club, loved to paint on canvases and enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden. John was an avid NY Yankee fan and he enjoyed world soccer. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren and family. Beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Amato) Nicosia. Loving father of Vincent Nicosia and his wife Michele of Cedar Grove and the late Paterson Firefighter John Anthony Nicosia. Adored father-in-law of Mary Ellen Nicosia of Hawthorne. Cherished grandfather of Julia, John and Noelle Nicosia. John is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation was offered on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the Festa Memorial Funeral Home, 111 Union Boulevard, Totowa, NJ. The funeral was arranged in the funeral home on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass conducted at 10 AM in Saint Gerard Roman Catholic Church, 501 West Broadway, Hillcrest, NJ 07522. Entombment followed at Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum in Totowa. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101.
