There is a headstone in the same cemetery for R. Evans. I assume this may be for the same person. Unfortunately, there is no birth, nor death date associated with the headstone. So it remains unclear if this is for the same person.
Robert's obituary does not state who he served with in WWI. There is another Robert Evans who served in WWI , for the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. But he died in the U.S. in 1956. Also there was only one Robert Evans who served for the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. Since this obituary stated Robert was associated with the S.S. Fogota one can assume he served in the Navy.
Also his death record and obituary has him interned in two different cemeteries. His death record states General Protestant Cemetery. No headstone located in that cemetery only the one for R. Evans located at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
