Obituary of John Lowry

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Freeport Health Centre on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the age of 82. Loving husband of Dorothy for nearly 59 years. John is survived by his children, Carmel (Floyd) Branston, Kevin (Angelina) Lowry, Edmund (Bernadette) Lowry, and Helen (Luis Fonseca) Lowry; his grandchildren, Sean Lowry, Kyle (Kristin) Bunte, Sarah (Yvan) Rodrigues, Shane Lowry, Veronica Lowry, Patrick Fonseca Lowry and Michael Fonseca Lowry; and his great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Bunte. John came from a large Irish family and is survived by his sisters, Kathleen Kelly, Margaret (Johnny) Leonard, Maureen (Bill) Coleman, Nuala Ignazi, Detta Brennan, Dolores (Barry) Coonan; his brothers, Dinny (Dolores) Lowry and Barry (Winnie) Lowry; and his brother-in-law, Martin Lloyd. He is fondly remembered by his Canadian nephew Peter (Denise) Ignazi and niece Linda (Matt) Gass and forty-four nieces and nephews in Great Britain, Ireland, Europe, the U.S.A., and Asia. He is predeceased by his sisters, Cora and Philomena and brothers-in-law, Victor Ignazi, Hugh Brennan and Jimmy Kelly. John was a master plumber by trade and owned and operated his own business Lowry Process Piping for many years. He was active in his union, Local 527 Plumbers and Steamfitters and the Mechanical Contractors Association. He was an avid golfer and long-term member of Foxwood Golf Club. He also loved to play bridge. He will be fondly remembered at Tims for his daily visits and order of cinnamon raisin bagel with butter and two jams and many people will remember his cookie and candy deliveries. We will miss his unwavering support, unconventional wisdom, his incredible sense of humour (including his jokes and stories) and his infectious laugh. The Lowry family will receive friends at the Erb &; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 8:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
