Henry's father, the Rev. James Thomas Mink, performed the marriage vows.
While Cora and Ellis were NOT the biological parents of Elzy Underwood, they 'adopted' and loved him as their own.
So in honor of their commitment to Elzy, I'm adding him to their Memorials. Please, understand, that I am in NO way inferring that either Ellis or Cora is the biological parent of: Elzy Nolan Underwood
NOTE: I have precious memories of always stopping at Uncle Ellis' place when my family would make an annual trip from Michigan to Mississippi and Alabama. Uncle Ellis and Aunt Cora were very special to my Dad. He said that he felt more welcome there than any place on earth.
They were warm, loving, caring folks who knew that the best thing to offer a city child was a big slice of cold watermelon on a hot Mississippi day...still grateful. (They even allowed us to spit the watermelon seeds on the ground. My parents were horrified at such an indignity, but Uncle Ellis and Aunt Cora told Mom and Dad to "leave the children be". Afterall, we certainly couldn't do such an unmannerly deed in our city home.
