Catharine Anne Barry, the second child of Michael P. J. Barry and Hanora Eileen O'Shea, was born in Lakeview, Oregon. She was graduated from Lakeview High School in 1935. She attended Oregon State University from 1935-1937, then attended and was graduated from University of Oregon School of Nursing in Portland, Oregon on 29 May 1939 with a BS in Nurse Education. On 9 Jun 1940 she was graduated from University of Oregon with a masters degree in nursing and received a Certificate in Public Health Nursing. She was a nurse in geriatrics at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, Oregon for about 22 years. In the fall of 1962, she began work as a public health nurse for Benton Co. Health Department, working with the schools in the county.
On 12 Oct 1940 she married Frederick Ivan Lemke in Lakeview, Oregon at St. Patrick Catholic Church. They moved to Corvallis, Oregon (1917 Western Ave.). Together they had 13 children: Eileene Mary, Maryann, Anne Marie, Michael Dennis, Ellen Margaret, Cathleen Agnes, William Patrick, Suzanne Irene, Barry Jeremiah, Julia Joanne, Denise Maria, Joanne Cecelia, and Paul Daniel. Catharine died in Corvallis, Oregon on 12 Apr 1963 and is buried in the St. Mary Cemetery in Corvallis.
