He was born in Horry County, a son of the late Alfred and Lizzie Butler Barnhill.
Mr. Barnhill was a member of Tilly Swamp Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 111 and Masonic Lodge No. 381. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Abbott of Conway; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-9 tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway chapel.
The funeral, with Masonic rites, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tilly Swamp Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
