John William "JW" Conley, 84, of Clear Fork, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 13, 2024, at Welch Community Hospital, Welch, WV.

He was born on January 11, 1940 in Baileysville, Wyoming County, WV, the oldest son of the late Sterling Silver Conley & Iva Mildred Cline Conley.

John was a member of the Clear Fork Church of God Assembly and was the Adult Sunday School Teacher for 37 years. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was a member of the UMWA and retired from US Steel.

In Addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Frances Delores Short Conley, a sister-in-law Linda Lou Conley Lester, and two brothers Douglas Arthur "Bo" Conley and Robert "Bobby" Conley.

Survivors include three daughters Tamara Sue Lester of Elk Lick, Melissa Rena (Ronald,II) Altizer of Sunhill and Dawn Marie (Kenneth) Clay of Elk Lick; a son David Sterling Conley of Elk Lick; four grandchildren Bobby Dale (Julie Ritter) Lester, Ivan Stuart Clay, Treavor John Conley and Brendon Kay Altizer, and a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, March 17th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Pastor Hannibal Blankenship, Jr. officiating. He will be laid to rest in Shannon Cemetery, Baileysville, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 1 pm until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family is being served by the Safford Family Funeral Home, Oceana, WV.
