CONLEY FUNERAL SET FOR TUESDAY
MULLENS - Funeral services of Sterling Silver Conley, 46, Baileysville, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24 at the Shannon Church of God by the Rev. L. G. Watts.
Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery, Baileysville, with an honor guard from Varney Cline American Legion Post, Pineville, conducting military rites at the graveside.
Conley was a construction worker-miner until he became ill two years ago. He died Saturday, April 21, 1956 in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Beckley, W Va. Death was attributed to cancer.
He was an engineer and Army veteran of WWII and member of the Bailey-Morgan American Legion Post at Baileysville.
A native of Oceana, he was born Jan. 27, 1910. His parents were William Dee Conley and Nellie Kate Bowden Conley.

Surviving are his wife , Iva M. Cline Conley; three sons, John William, Douglas Arthur and Robert Carroll, all at home; four brothers, Andrew "Andy" Taylor and Phillip William, both of Baileysville, Jesse Randolph of Oceana and Billy of Tyler, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Charley M. Hill (Dulcie M.), Mrs. Keith H. Cline (Nita M.), Mrs. Marion T. Hazel (Eileen J.) of Augusta, Ga. and Mrs. Jess Brunty (Dolly Ray) of Lynco.
The body will be removed from the Robertson and Foglesong Funeral Home to the Conley residence at 5 p.m. today.
