We recently noted the death of this good woman. In California, who lived at Traer in early days. The Vacaville Reporter has the following: After a few days' illness, Mrs. Helen Morehouse, widow of the late George W. Morehouse Sr., suddenly passed away on April 12, 1928 in San Francisco. Her death was due to the infirmities of old age, she having reached the ripe age of 95 years and 3 months. Mrs. Morehouse was born January 13, 1833, in the town of Canajoharie, New York where her ancestors, the Wilburs and the Wards, were among the very early settlers. Married in 1850 to George W. Morehouse she lived in New York for a number of years and later she and her husband moved to Tama county, Iowa, where she spent many years among the pioneers of the middle west, helping by her Christian character and charity for all to build well a new country. She came to California in 1881 and lived for a number of years near Winters, Yolo county. Since then she has lived with her daughter in Vacaville and in San Francisco. She was beloved by all who knew her. Especially did children love her as was shown by a touching incident when a beautiful floral piece "From the boys of the neighborhood in San Francisco was placed beside the casket.
Mrs. Morehouse was the m other of six sons and one daughter: Judson W., of Bonanza, Oregon; Legrand M. deceased; George W., deecased; Charles A., of San Francisco; Otis, who died in infancy; Seward, of San Francisco, and Mrs. Joseph Stadtfeld, of Vacaville. Beside her children she leaves to cherish her memory eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in San Francisco on April 14, conducted by Dr. W. Fisher of the Seventh Avenue Presbyterian church and the body was brought to Vacaville, where services were held at the Community church on Sunday, April 15, the Rev. A. F. Fruhling officiating. Mrs. F. A. Steiger sang a beautiful solo, "Come Unto Me." The body was laid to rest in the Masonic cemetery at Vacaville.
