Born in Franklin County, Illinois, shw was the daughter of Stephen Allen and Rebecca Webb Allen. Her husband was Willis Craddock Brooks. They were pioneer settlers in Brown County, Texas.

"Minerva Allen was born December 26, 1830; converted at the age of nine and was baptized in the winter time when it was so cold that a baptistry was hewn out of the ice; married W.C. Brooks in 1850; mother of eleven children; has six children living and fifty-eight grandchildren, and sixty-two great-grandchildren. She and her husband were the first settlers of Santa Anna (TX). Died at Bangs (TX), where she had lived since 1888. She went home April 14, 1913. She was faithful to the end. A good woman has gone and the church sorely misses her."
