Four days before she died, Maxine told her mother that when she went to the outhouse, there were angels all around it. She was bitten on her ankle by a snake July 18, 1923 and died the next day.
Maxine was initially buried in Kelley Cemetery, but was moved to Eastwood Cemetery by her maternal grandfather, George A. Sheets.
