Margaret was the daughter of Linington D. and Eva M. (Sanford) Crossman. She married (1) David Townsend Rainey and they were the parents of three children: David Ross, Martha A. and Sarah Linn. She married (2) Algernon Sidney Badger.

Margaret "Mart" Crossman Rainey Badger died on December 19, 2013 following an illness. A native Texan, she was born in Port Arthur, Texas on January 13, 1927. She grew up in Houston, attended Lamar High School, and earned a degree from Rice University. She was a devoted wife and mother and taught elementary school in Houston. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, David Townsend Rainey; and her parents, Linington and Eva Crossman.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Algernon Sidney Badger; and her children, Martha Stoddard and husband David; David Ross Rainey and wife Cheryl; and Sarah Burka and husband Paul. She is survived by the children of her husband Al: Elizabeth Anne Badger and husband Lansing Pugh; John Algernon Badger; and Margaret Badger Blackert and husband James. Mart was preceded in death by Susan Badger Chester
Margaret's surviving siblings are Elsie Moore and husband Pat, and Alfred Crossman and wife Janet. She has beloved nieces and nephews. Margaret's grandchildren are Devyn McDonald and husband Peter; Whitney Preg and husband Nathan; Janet Burka; Joel Burka, and Barrett Burka; and shared children and grandchild of Cheryl Rainey. Margaret's great grandchildren are Jones and Fisher Preg. With husband Al, she shared grandchildren Logan, Alexander, and David Pugh; and Katharine, Victoria, and Elizabeth Blackert.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 23, at First United Methodist Church, 421 Pietzsch St., East Bernard, Texas. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. preceding the service at 10:00 a.m. Graveside service will be at the Wimberley Cemetery, Old Kyle Road, Wimberley, Texas at 4:00 p.m. that afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church (write "For Mart Badger Prayer Garden Fund" on the check), P.O.
