The funeral at George Gilbert, Sr, 81, who died July 6 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. J. Kelly, in Rensselaer Falls, was held Thursday at 10am at St. Raphael's Church, Heuvelton. Requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Fitzpatrick assisted by Father's Charbonneau and Larose of Ogdensburg, with Father Beileville at the organ. Burial was made in NOtre Dame cemetery in Ogdensburg.
Mr. Gilbert was born in Ogdensburg, the son of Peter and Margaret Wattier Gilbert. He was a carpenter by trade. He moved to Syracuse twenty-one years ago where he remained until 1928 when he went to Rensselaer Falls. His wife died seven years ago and his is survived by the following children: Mrs. William Montroy of Detroit, Mrs. Edmund Paige of Syracuse, Mrs. A. J. Kelly and Mrs. Bert Kelly of Rensselaer Falls, Mrs. Ray McLaughlin of Syracuse, Mrs. Shearer of Detroit, George, Fred and William Gilbert of Ogdensburg and Edward Gilbert of Syracuse. There are forty-eight grandchildren; a brother, Albert Gilbert and two sisters, Mrs. Benjamin Gagnon and Mrs. Margaret Lemmy of Ogdensburg.
