Lola Katherine Ferguson, the daughter of William Alfred and Fern Dell (Thurber)
Ruhga, was born on November 8, 1916 on a farm near Oak, Nebraska. She passed away
on December 13, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 90
years, 1 month and 5 days.
Lola was one of five children, she lived her entire life in the Oak vicinity with the
exception of moving to Hastings, Nebraska on February 1, 1989 to the Goldbeck Towers
in the Good Samaritan Village. She was residing at the Nelson Good Samaritan Center at
the time of her passing.
On January 23, 1934 she was united in marriage to William Fred Ferguson. To
this union one daughter, Aileen Ann was born. Lola was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest concern was the welfare of her husband
and family, who were the joy, pride and love of her life.
Lola was a member of the First Community Church of Oak and it's Church Circle
Organization for many years. She helped her husband operate their grocery store for 37
years and was involved in several projects at Oak as well as at the Good Samaritan
Village.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, William on June 23, 1983;
three sisters, Hazel Kotas, Elaine Taylor and Cleo Scroggin and one brother, Alfred
Rugha and a great-great-grandson, Jonathan and one great-great-
grandson, Hayden.
Survivors include her daughter, Aileen Grummert and husband Milvern of
Glenvil, Nebraska; grandson, Michael Grummert and his wife Sheila of McPherson,
Kansas and granddaughter, Julie Schiefelbein and husband Steve of West Linn, Oregon;
and six great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Sara, Nicholas, Alicia and Michael Grummert
and Stacey and Sheryl Schiefelbein,great-grandson Colin, and a step-great-grandson Rece; sister-in-law, Dorothy Meyer and husband Leonard of Palmdale, California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the
First Community Church in Oak, Nebraska with Pastor Steve Matthews officiating.
Music was "One Day At A Time" duet by Alfred & Janelle Hanson and "In The Garden"
duet by Tom & Terry Jensen, with Cloma Corman as organist.
Pallbearers were Michael Grummert, Nicholas Grummert, Alicia Grummert, Sara
Grummert, Michael Grummert and Julie Schiefelbein. Honorary Pallbearers were Steve
Schiefelbein, Sheila Grummert, Stacey Schiefelbein and Sheryl Schiefelbein.
Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Oak, Nebraska
