Born on January 12, 1918 in Greene Township, PA, he was the son of the late David and Sallie C. Bowen Wadel.
A U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, Fred served in the Asia Pacific Theatre. He was a former member of Soloman's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46, Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 842 and the Hume McNeil Byers Amvets Post 224. After retirement from Letterkenny Army depot in 1976, Fred enjoyed hunting, gardening and raising beagles.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Myers Wadel, one sister Jennie Schaeffer of Chambersburg and countless nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Two brothers James and Frank preceded him in death.
