Prior to his disability, forcing his retirement in 1967, he was employed as an ammunition handler at Letterkenny Army Depot for 21 years.
He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Mont Alto.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Smetzer Wadel, whom he married April, 1950; a sister, Jennie M. Schaeffer and a brother, Fred K. Wadel, both of Chambersburg.
