Jacob Borror was born on 9 May 1728 (some sources say February 1726) in Blauen, Bern, Switzerland. He was the son of Jacob Borror (1693-1778) and Magdalena Fuchs Borror (1693-1771).


Jacob married Barbara Judy Tschudi (1732-1784) in 1753 at Harding, Virginia, United States. Jacob was 25 years old and Barbara was 21. Barbara was the daughter of Martin Tschudi (1708-1785) and Rosina Dorothy Schaffner Tschudi (1710-1780).


Jacob and Barbara Borer had the following 8 known children: Barbara (Barbary) Borer 1750 – 1813, Charles Borer 1758 – 1843, Martin (Martain) Borer 1762 – , Jacob Borer 1763 – 1804, Rosanna Borer 1764 – , Mary Borer 1772 – , Elizabeth Borer 1776 – 1836 and Thomas Borer 1778 – 1810.

Jacob2 Borror I (Jacob1) was born on May 9, 1728 at Blauen, Bern, Switzerland. He married Barbara Judy (Tschudi), daughter of Martin Judy Jr. and Rosanna Schafner, in 1753 at PA or VA (when he was 25 years of age). In 1758 Jacob Borer and Martin Judy were on tax rolls in Elizabeth Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. From 1762-65 he and Peter and Martin Borer were listed as workers at Elizabeth Furnace, York Co., PA. (York Co. was organized out of Lancaster in 1749.)

Jacob died on 11 Aug 1778 in North Mill Creek Valley, Romney, Hampshire, Virginia, (WV) USA. He did leave a will written 19 Oct 1776 which was filed in Hampshire County, VA (now WV) courthouse. This is what his will said: In the name of God amen. I JACOB BORER of the Co. of Hampshire and Commonwealth of Virginia, being of sound mind and memory thanks be to God calling to mind the mortality of all flesh and that it is appointed for all men once to die do this nineteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight make and publish this my last will and testament in the way and manner following. First and principally I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the dust nothing doubting but (?) that I shall receive the same again at the general resurrection of all flesh according to the mighty power of God and as touching my worldly estate with which it has pleased God to bless me with. I will and bequeath in the manner and way following:


Imprimis, after funeral expenses paid; I will to my beloved wife BARBERY the whole of my personal estate to raise the children on this proviso that she may think convenient. To keep them together and if to the contrary then the estate to be equally divided after her thirds among my children (BARBARY, CHARLES, MARY, JACOB, ELIZABETH, THOMAS, MARTAIN, ROSANA).

MARTAIN and ROSANA I will to each of ten pounds extraordinary ~ more than their share.


Thusly I do will to my second son JACOB that one half of the plantation that my house and improvement is on and the other half to my son THOMAS to be put in those (his? or thine?) possession when of age: and they my two sons JACOB & THOMAS are to pay eight pounds apiece to be equally divided among their brothers and sisters.


I do thereby constitute and appoint my wife BARBERRY, JACOB HANKLE & J'N WILSON Excr. to this my last will and testament hereby revoking all my former wills rectifying & confirming this and this only to be my last will and testament witness where of I have here unto set my; my hand and seal in the day and year first above.
