Alma Stuart (Hogan) Snell, 85, of Fort Smith, who farmed on the Fort Belknap Reservation with her husband, authored two books on the Crow way of life and was an adviser on the creation of the National Museum of the American Indian, died of natural causes Monday May 5, 2008 in Billings.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, William F. Snell Sr. of Fort Smith; daughters Faith Chosa of Billings and Pearl Buchanan of Illinois; sons Ted Hogan of Arizona and William F. Snell Jr. of Billings; sisters Pearl Hogan, Ferole Mae Pease and Ataloa Harris, all of Crow Agency, Mardell Plain Feather of Fort Smith, Mary Elizabeth Wallace, Nellie Petty and Lorena Walks Over Ice of Lodge Grass; 14 grandchildren and a multitude of great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Fort Smith Cemetery in Fort Smith.
