Hi, I looked at Frederick Summey on FAG, and it says that he is buried at Grace Lutheran, which is incorrect. He was buried on his own land several miles from the church. I have visited his grave and took pictures. There is a little poem on his marker which to me is very interesting. It says, "My loving wife and children dear,
Now I am called to leave you here, On earth our time we spent in love, In hopes again to meet above. I'm gone unto that happy shore, Where pain and death is known no more". I think that is precious and shows how much he and his wife loved each other. I would love for you to put that on his memorial page. I think it would mean a lot to his descendants.

"A Condensed History of the Early Settlers of Catawba County, NC", by Col. George M. Yoder says this about Frederick Summey, "I will now give a historical sketch of Frederick Summey. He came to the section prior to the Revolutionary War. He married Plantena Whitener, daughter of Michael Whitener. Frederick had lived on the place where D. H. Ramseur now lives. After this marriage he settled on a large farm on the South Fork (River), now known as the John Lore Farm about three miles southeast of Grace Church. Frederick Summey was buried on his land while his wife was buried at Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery." It gives more information about his children.

When the land was divided among his children it told how much he gave each child and the value of it. It was a total of 1,034 acres. That should interest his descendants also. I didn't do any other research, but those who have say that he was a son of Peter and Margaret Mertz Summey.

I hope you will see fit to add some of this on his memorial page.
