After rescanning this photo in an attempt to increase the resolution, I have replaced the prior scan with this one; hopefully, that will preserve more detail if enlarged.
Although the gravestone info indicates that Curd Cox purchased 2000 acres, the deed information from the Knox County, Tenn. Archives shows this purchase from Walter Alves to Curd Cox-1809 Deed of Conveyance- was for 400 acres on Bull Run in Lot E-for $500.00. I was unable to find any further proof in the Archives that old Curd Cox owned anywhere near 2000 acres of land in Knox Co.

My sister accompanied me the day we visited the cemetery; and we saw a # of 'pieces' of other old gravestones. We were told by other descendants there were a couple of old Curd & Susannah's slaves who also were buried there; however, we didn't see anything complete enough to identify a specific grave.

This Line of Cox Graves is at Middle Settlements Cemetery (attached to the Middle Settlements United Methodist Church in Louisville, Tenn.) & was visited & photographed with my sister just prior to the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks on Washington, DC & New York City.
The father of Curd Cox (Henry Cox, and his wife Ann Madison Cox) are buried in this cemetery along with Ann's sister, Margaret French Madison & a # of their descendants. Mr. Allen Jeffries (a Cox descendant) was very helpful in describing the location of the graves in the cemetery.
Prior to the year 2000, Mr. Jeffries published a paper re: the family's connection to the William Cox(e) who settled in the Jamestown Colony in 1610 even though other already proven descendants of the William Cox(e) line had long disputed that there was conclusive proof of this.
After many years of research, Mr. Jeffries finally exchanged correspondence with a noted & published author/historian with whom he shared the details of his work. Mr. John Dorman – (Adventurers Of Purse & Person) wrote back in 2006 agreeing with him & complimenting him on his findings. To briefly note a couple of Mr. Dorman's quotes to Allen: 'Your identification of John Cox (Henry's father), who died testate in Goochland County in 1785, as the son of Richard and Mary (Trent) Cox is of considerable interest as well. I should have been more diligent in following up on the 105 acres which Richard left to his son John and not have concluded so readily that the reference in Henry Cox's deed to the burial place of his brother John's children meant that all of John's children had died young'.
Although some seem to claim this research as their own (from all the copying I've seen online with no attribution of his efforts), the research that Allen shared with Mr. Dorman has been online for a # of years & can be viewed at the following address. It leaves no doubt who came up with a major breakthrough in finding the original immigrant to America for the Henry Cox descendants: See
