Vernon Burns, 71, died Monday, February 7, 2000 in Leflore. He was born February 5, 1929 in Leflore. He was a siding contractor, a lifelong resident of the area, and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was married to the former Ora Robison for forty-seven years.

Mr. Burns was Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dora (Bunton) Burns; four brothers; and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law; two brothers; four grandchildren; three great granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, extended family and loved ones, and a host of friends.

He is survived by his wife of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Reza Kivelipoor of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mary Jane and Willis Knight of Oklahoma City, and Verna Sue Burns of the home; two brothers, Henry Burns of Fort Worth, Texas, and Hershel Burns of Helendale, California; four grandchildren; three great granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, extended family and loved ones, and a host of friends.

Graveside services will be at 10 am, Wednesday, February 9, at the Leflore Cemetery in Leflore with the Rev. Roy Boggs officiating

Arrangements are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
