Deke Latham was a Bull Riding Champion. He grew up in Kaycee, Wyoming, He attended Panhandle State University in Goodwell, OK and during his enrollment he won the Intercollegiate Central Plains Regional All-Around Cowboy award. He qualified for the National Finals Rodeo and went into the NFR in 13th place and up to 5th in the PRCA World Standings.
Sadly, for this 21 year old young man, this was his final rodeo. He was killed in a car accident in December of 86 near his home in Kaycee, WY. His family, friends and community were devastated. Deke Latham was a true sport of the rodeo and is truly missed but never forgotten.
