Lithie was the daughter of William and Mary (Rogers) Dannelley. She was born and raised in what would become the Danleys Crossroads community. She married William McCart on 24 January 1881 in Coffee County, Alabama. They were the parents of fifteen children, although only twelve were living at the time of the 1900 census. At least nine would live to adulthood.
