Mrs. Lydia Large Died in Albany-Pioneer Scio Resident Passes Away at the Home of Daughter, Mrs. Virgil Hackleman
Mrs. Lydia Large died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Virgil Hackleman, in Albany. She was 75 years old. Mrs. Large went to Albany a week ago to visit her daughter. Her death came after a short illness.
Mrs. Large, whose maiden name was Miss Lydia Workman, was born near Loami, Illinois in 1842. She was married to Thomas Large 1861. They moved from there to Kansas in 1865, living there until 1876, when they crossed the plains, arriving in Oregon in 1878. Settling near Scio, where they lived until the time of their deaths. Mr. Large died in March 1916.
Four daughters and two sons mourn the death of their mother. They are: Mrs. Tirzah Campbell of Loami, Ill.; Mrs. Frank Tharp, Tangent; Thomas Large, of Scio; Mrs. W. D. Hoeye, of Mosier, Glen Large, of Brownsville and Mrs. Virgil Hackleman of Albany. She also leaves two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Nancy Bilyeu of Jordan and Mrs. Hannah Wilson of Great Falls, Montana and Isaac and William of Nebraska.
The body was taken to the Fortmiller Funeral Chapel where it will lie until the arrival of Mrs. Campbell from Illinois. The funeral will be held from the Federated church in this city, Rev. H. B. Iler, conducting the services. The burial will take place at the Masonic cemetery. Mrs. Large was a long-long member of the Christian Church.
