Bessie Dobrkovsky, 75 of Scio, died July 29, 1987 in a care center in Albany. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 1, 1987 in Huston Funeral Home in Lebanon. Burial followed at Franklin Butte Cemetery near Scio. Rev. Gary Widrig officiated. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
She was born Bessie Fridrich on Oct. 3, 1911 in Wild Horse, Colorado and moved to Scio in 1920. She married Lewis Dobkovsky on Feb. 6, 1930 at Portland where they lived from 1942 to 1948 when they moved to Scio. They purchased [her family's] Fridrich Farm which she and her husband has operated since that time. She retired from Stayton Cannery after being employed there for 15 years in 1970. She was a member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Scio for 15 years and American Red Cross blood program. She was a hostess for the Scio Senior Citizens for 12 years and was a member of the ZCBJ lodge No. 226 and the Scio Flora Dora Girls.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter Jeanne Grawe of Portland; two sisters, Helen Harbaugh of Elkton and Sylvia Seehafer of Corvallis; two grandchildren, Darlene Unsicker and John McOmie and one great-granddaughter, Laura Unsicker, all of Portland.
